House Renovation Project - Dubai

This is a house renovation we did located at Springs, Dubai back 2012.   Our client was an Indian Family of four. They are Hindu so they have these Vasthu beliefs that we had to consider when we did the renovation. It is actually their main reason for this change. They have a limited budget since it is not their permanent house, as the lady of the house said, Dubai is not their permanent residence so they do not want to spend much.  I will show you photos of before and after for this project.  Shall we? This is the existing view of the Foyer and Living Room.. and I came up with several options for this area.. it was a bit of a discussion with the client because they were a bit confused of what they want..  I initially gave them this.. The wall of that library is connected all the way to the dining and the family room.. I wanted to unify the three rooms with a long library. That was my concept. Very modern. A sculpture in a corn...

Retail Shop Concept

Just before I leave for my Christmas holiday.. let me share my latest project. It is a retail shop for swimsuit and Knick Knacks. 10m x 10m size.  Client wanted something rustic and modern and this is my interpretation. Here are the views.. a more close up view.. the whole store view.. My two bosses loved it.. and again for their high standard, that makes me happy and proud. Let's hope the client loves it too. I enjoyed making this shop.. It was a 3-day concept including design, 3d modelling and rendering.. This is one of those small projects that makes me love being a designer. Let me know your thoughts... CIAO! -CARMI

Architecture Works: Modern Furniture Showroom

This is another one of my recent designs. It's a showroom of a Furniture Company here in Dubai of which name I will not disclose due to privacy. They are actually one of our suppliers for several years now. Their very first showroom was designed by my senior and now that they have moved to a new location, they have asked him again to design it. This is despite of having to work with other designers here in Dubai. They believe so much in our company's design and have not asked others to do it for them. My senior gave me the opportunity to design it myself. So this project is all me.  I went to the site with one of my junior architects to take photos of the current situation and to discuss with the client their requirements. Since they cater to many products, I have to find a solution on having them all in display without creating a clutter. I must admit that I wasn't so excited when I started this project. My schedule was hectic and imagine designing in the midd...

Design Inspirations

As a designer, it is not always easy to come up with ideas when working on new projects. Apart from the brief you have from what the client wants, it is still up to us the designers on how we can provide our clients with beautiful designs that suit their needs. I have a few architectural sites that I love to browse to get inspired and get some ideas. Not that you are copying or whatsoever, now that is a bad thing. You can get ideas and evolve them to suit your need since every project is different. In a way, these websites inspire me a lot. Here's my website list of inspirations for Modern & Contemporary Architecture: 1.  ArchDaily           Archdaily is more like "THE" website for us architects. It features works of designers from today as well as the old, articles about architecture whether old or new, they also feature architects, news on architecture and design technologies and a whole lot more. They cater to Arc...

Architecture Works: Villa at the Palm Jumeirah - Dubai

A Villa situated at the very famous Palm Jumeirah - Dubai, U.A.E. I did the design interiors of this villa back 2011. This is one of the projects I am very proud of. There were many limitations for this project. No wall can be altered and I had to work on the current situation o the house, some fixtures were already bought and had to be used, some furnitures to be used etc.etc..   Client is a British Family. This is one of those projects I did for LSD with pointers and guidance from my two seniors.  Let's walk around the house per level. We'll start with the GF: This is the Entrance Hall. The wall behind the painting was originally not there. It was proposed to separate the Dining Room from this big hall. It is a backlit alabaster and the opening on the top is a glass wall from the Gym with the view of this hall. Im sure you can recognize the designer pieces I used from Minotti and B&B Italia. Another view of the entrance hall and from the door on the lef...

Architecture Works: Proposed Plantation Capital Office - Dubai

This is one of the offices I designed before the end of 2011. I did the this project from layout to design to visuals with few pointers from one of my seniors. Here's the layout: The Entrance with the view of the reception area as you enter the office. The Company logo can be seen through the glass door entrance. The Reception. A bench seat for the guests on one side and the reception counter on the other. Corridor / Gallery. Those little screens on the wall are iPads that will showcase what the company does. At the end of this hall is a tree branch sitting on white pebbles.  The back office for staff. Simple office design based on client's requirements. I did have a view of the meeting room and I will update this post later to complete the views. The client loved the design. Made me happy. But then the project did not push through at the moment because there was a revision of the company budget that time. They will get back to ...
