UPDATE 31/03/2014:

I've tried the Intensive Shine Treatment together with the Shampoo and Conditioner and the results are amazing! No need for styling but just beautiful, shiny and healthy hair after each shower!

13/03/2014

When I first moved here in Dubai 7 years ago, I had a problem finding the right product for my hair. I had bad dandruff adjusting to the water with very high saline content which makes the hair dry and also the weather.
I remember using one product after another - of which I used only for a single time then jump to another til I found one that does not cause terrible dandruff for me.
I've never had a case of dandruff back to my home country so I panicked when this happened to me. I tried Herbal Essences, Loreal, etc..etc.. What stopped the dandruff was Pantene. So from then, I have been using Pantene for my shampoo and conditioner. The only thing is it does not resolve my problem with dryness.
I have this really long hair and the dryness is evident because of that. So I compensate by doing hot oil treatments on weekends which barely helps. It is actually the water. But what can I do?  I live here.
Only then last month I while on my scheduled grocery shopping I saw the hair product Syoss
It was not the first time I encountered the product, I saw a newspaper with an article about this product being newly introduced in this country. Article said it is known in Japan. So I thought, oh another Japanese product. So far I have been impressed with the Japanese products i have featured on this blog. Remember the Tokyo Love Shop articles I featured here and here as well as Baby Foot that I featured here? So I decided to give this new shampoo a try. It is a Keratin shampoo. When I bought the shampoo they didn't have a pair of the same type for the Shampoo and Conditioner so I got these..

The Shine Boost Shampoo and..

Color Protect Conditioner..

I am impressed on how it has kept my hair shiny and hydrated. It's not dry anymore!! And this is with every other day use-- I don't wash my hair everyday because that's when it gets damaged more.
I was convinced that it was a Japanese product only to find out I was wrong..
It is another product from the Schwarzkopf Company which famous for their very good hair products. I cannot wait to try their other products.

I highly recommend for you to try Syoss. (This is not a sponsored post by the way!) I just want to share this information to my readers. Now I can say I have found my HG Shampoo and Conditioner. Try it and feel the difference yourself.

I hope this was informative and helpful to you guys!

Product Review: Rimmel Nail Nurse and Salon Pro Nail Polishes

Hey Everyone!
I got bored last weekend so I decided to do my nails..
I bought these two polishes from Rimmel..

I used nail strengthener and protective base when I put polish because my nails are so sensitive. They easily turn yellowish in color when I leave on nail polished for a long time. My favorite base that so far has helped protect my nails an not let them discolor is the Deborah Milano.. not being biased because it's an Italian product but it is really the only base polish that has been kind to my nails..

I am trying out this Rimmel Nail Nurse to see if it is the same..

and since it's already Spring.. why not try some color right?? Rimmel Salon PRO in 500 Peppermint..
let me show you my bare nails without polish to see the difference when I have the product on.. here are my bare nails..
let's try the Rimmel base coat..
looks promising so far..it has a clear pinkish color..
I am used to my Deborah Milano.,, which is my favorite nail product because it lets me wear nail polish without the worries of nail discoloration..
They're nice right?? Even with just that and top it off with a colorless top coat is just beautiful for me..
Now let's try the color..
Not bad for the Spring or Summer right?? It's just fresh and lovely!

The brush of this polish is bigger and flat..I think all the PRO line of Rimmel Polish has this brush..
Compared to the normal ones like the base..
Sad to say in the end I had to remove the polish.. Chief had a bad face when he saw my nails he hated it!! lol!! He wants natural nails or close to natural colors for my nails.. He just looked disgusted and I couldn't bare it! LoL!! He seemed in pain.. He said it looked like my nails were dipped on paint!! lol!

So I went back to my normal colors..

This is a MAC Nail Polish in Creme Endless Night....

It has a light purplish beige color with a bit of shimmer..
without flash..

with flash...

Just one coat of the polish with the base from Deborah Milano and Revlon colorless top coat.

For you girls out there that wants a more fresh color for the spring, this Rimmel 500 Peppermint is a nice color good for light, medium  and dark skin tone ..
Try it yourself!

Product Review : Kojie San Skin Lightening Soap another Skin Lightening Japanese Wonder!

Many people, men and women, out there are obsessed to getting whiter skin.. Okay, I'm speaking for mostly Asians.. they have this misconception that white / lighter skin is beautiful no matter what..

Of course it is the opposite for western people.. they just love the golden skin and tan..
I am one of the Asians that love my skin color.. I'm olive. I admit, it was not easy growing up to have darker skin. I was always teased by friends and at school for being the so called "dark".. This is why my Uni friends and classmates gave me the title "darkbeauty" which is I am very proud of by the way.. I've used this as my nickname on websites.

I've used a whitening soap in the last two days.. and I was so impressed I just have to blog about it.

Okay, i don't want to get whiter skin.. the reason I was trying this soap was to lighten the marks that I have on my back because of pimples. I've had this soap in my vanity closet since last year because of a friend's recommendation but haven't really tried it since the last two days. I'm suffering from back acne in the last month for the reason I do not know. Could be because of the shampoo and conditioner, it also could be because I've been eating a lot of chicken lately. I'm allergic to chicken her in UAE (only!! not outside UAE! I don't know what's with the chicken here!) I get itchy rashes, little bumps and chicken skin anywhere all over my body wherever it feels like.. and lately I've noticed that the pimples on my back got worse when I ate chicken.. So this gave in to me trying this soap.. WHY?

I read on reviews that this soap makes the skin dry as side effect of the whitening because it exfoliates your skin. Since I didn't mind that because I have natural oily skin.. If it could help drying the pimples on my back and lighten the scars.. why not??! I will just moisturize after shower.
This is what's inside the box..

Lather the soap all over the body and let it sit for minimum of 3 minutes.. just like the Tokyo Love Soap. I suggest you lather until white foam of soap is formed and just lightly massage all over your body..

After rinse and wiping with a towel this is the result after two days of use..

That's my leg by the way.. I just did a little bit of gentle rubbing and the skin is just shedding off..
my knee..
Do not rub too hard.. you do not want to damage your skin..

i believe with the continuous use of this product, you will see visible whiter skin in a week or two..

The only downside is it's really drying the skin because of exfoliation which can be remedied by using a lotion or a good body butter as how I do it to bring back moisture on your skin and VIOLA!!! You're good to go!

Kojie San can be bought from Pharmacies, Beauty Shops in the Philippines and I think it is available at West Zone Supermarkets all over Dubai.

Another tried and tested product. I hope this review was helpful!

[ARchicTECT Baking Adventure #02] Comfort from Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Comfort food anyone??

I baked Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies today. I've been baking these babies since I don't remember. But the last time I did .... I couldn't either!

Anyway, here's the recipe:

2 1/4 Cup All Purpose Flour (sifted)
1Tsp. Salt
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
1 Cup Butter (2 Sticks)
2 Large Eggs
3/4 Brown Sugar
3/4 White Sugar
1 Tsp. Vanila Extract
2 Cups Chocolate Chip Morsels (Nestle Semi- Sweet / Hershey's Milk Chocolate Morsels)

1. Mix Flour, Salt and Baking Soda (sifted) in one bowl
2. On a separate bowl mash melted butter, brown sugar, white sugar
3. Add eggs one at a time on butter mix til all ingredients are all mixed well
4. Mix the dry ingredients with the creamy mixture gradually
5. Add 2 Cups of Chocolate Morsels
6. Refrigerate for an hour or two
7. Heat up the oven to 375 deg. Fahrenheit / 190 deg. Celsius
8. Place drop of rounded tablespoon of cookie mix on a flat pan with 2 inches space apart
9. Bake cookies in 10-12 Minutes
10. After removing from the oven, let the cookies site for a minute or two before taking them off to place on Wire racks to cool .. they're usually very soft after removing from the oven.

REMEMBER: Do NOT overcook the cookie to get that crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside consistency we all love!!

This is the whole batch I made with the mixture minus the 5 pieces Chief and I had with our coffee..

They just melt in your mouth..yummy!!

Another variation is to add 1 cup of chopped walnuts together with the chocolate morsels.. It just simple takes it to another level. You can have half of the mixture with just the chocolate chips and the half with the same plus chopped walnuts!

Serving suggestions would be with a scoop of your favorite vanilla ice cream which makes it a Cookie Ala Mode..

Try it!

Product Review : Too Faced Joy To The Girls Palette & an Unpleasant Experience at Sephora MCC

*UPDATE 29/03/2014

I've been using this palette for a week and with a good primer and makeup base, this baby works well. Some colors maybe disappointing but its okay. I recommend this palette if you have extra moolah to spend when you want something new. Cheers!

23/03/2014

I have to share my unpleasant experience at Sephora Mirdif City Center. For frequent visitors of Sephora, you know how their staff are very welcoming and helpful the instant you enter their store. This is normal in any Sephora based on my visits in several stores here in Dubai-UAE, New York, New Jersery, and Philadelphia in the US.
On this particular shop at Mirdif City Center (my second visit a this shop)  as I entered he store, no one approached to assist me even when I started checking out the products. At that point I thought.. wait a minute this is not normal...am I really at Sephora??
I waited and continued checking the products .. and waited more..but nothing!
I started questioning.. what was wrong?? Did I look like a peasant with my very comfy clothes, flats and no makeup look?? I just came from the salon where I had a mani-pedi service and I like to be comfy when I go there..
I let it pass. Im not a primadonna. So, I turned and look for a sales person who would look my way to ask for assistance. I was lucky to come across a lady.

She was nice and helpful, things just went wrong when I paid for my purchase. What happened was, the sales lady that assisted me on my products advised me to ask for a gift when i pay at the cashier, and I actually did, i smiled on the lady at the cashier handed over my purchases and my Sephora white card. When I was paying for my purchases, I asked her if they had any gifts or freebies for customers at the moment. Which is what they normally do at Sephora or any other beauty shops. The lady did not answer me and it was like I did not say anything at all. I felt embarrassed!
That feeling was short lived because after a long pause of ignoring what I said, she started talking and said she will check if there is a gift that she could give me (this is while giving me my change.....) but then she started entertaining the customer after me and punching on the cash register her purchases (hmm..weird)
I waited on the side of the counter feeling a bit elated that i will be receiving a gift.. Since she was taking time with the next customer ..  I decided to checkout the brushes displayed adjacent to the cashier. After a few minutes and she has not said anything, I just turned and left. I didnt want to beg for the freebie.
I just wished that If she didnt have any intention to give me anything she should've just said she didn't have anything. In short, I just left the store. Am I overreacting??  What would you guys do if the same thing happened to you?

One thing is for sure though, I am not going back to that Sephora ever!! Though its the nearest to my house, I didnt like the service. For me service plays a big factor when i make my purchses. Sorry for this rant, I just want to share my unpleasant experience from this store.

Im a sucker for freebies!!but who's not?? doesnt it make you feel excited whenever you get freebies?? I even open my freebie first before the things I paid for!! other people might think its shallow but freebies makes me happy... What do I do?

Anyway, let's me give you my thoughts on this Too Faced Palette that I got..

I bought this as a recommendation from a beauty blog. It made me remind myself all over again not to trust everything I read and recommended by other bloggers. Not because a blog is famous or has a lot of followers  it meant that they recommend good stuff. Some posts are sponsored so they have to say nice things about certain products.

My thoughts on this eye makeup palette is uncertain.
I don't know if I like it a little bit or feel like it is a waste money.

It is my first time to buy from the brand Too Faced. I have to admit that I am not impressed. No wonder why the lady at Sephora kept on insisting I try the Sephora brand of eye makeups and just make my own palette for the colors I like. She asked me of it was really what I wanted when I grabbed the big palette of Too Faced from the display.

She was already giving me the message not to buy it and try something else but I didn't take the hint.. (so stupid of me!)
I was just too excited to get the makeup.
The packaging and presentation will just make you excited.. Like a little girl in a candy shop. It was like buying stationaries that you collect when you were young all over again.

About the palette.. It did not impress me. Most of the colors are just not pigmented. They will not show up unless you take a good rub in of your brush on the product before you apply. I never had this experience with the makeups I've used.

Urban Decay's Naked 2 Palette gives a very good color pay off. It is very easy to blend so it is so easy to apply. Despite of being in a powder state, it is very creamy and smooth to apply.

I have the swatches of all the colors below.

without flash..
with flash..

I divided my arm horizontally into three parts having the top part with primer and NYX Jumbo Penicl in White as base, middle part with just primer and the last third is without anything but bare skin. It will show you the quality and color pay-off of the shadows. The light colors wont even show up on bare skin. The frosted ones just slides off from the skin and cannot even be worn without any primer. The consistency of the frosted colors are disappointing. They slide off from your skin. This gave me the impression that the makeup is similar to cheap eye shadows. The packaging is beautiful but the product itself is cheap. I hated that! I paid almost 300aed for this palette!

I have to give a plus for the makeup guide that the packaging has..

Which I will have to try to see if it will change my views on this product. The only good thing was, the dark colors are pigmented well. Everythung else was so so.. For me, not something I would pay 300aed for!

The palette comes with a free mascara..

Which was not very special. Very ordinary. I prefer my Revlon photo finish which was not so expensive.

I tried using the product and this is the look I have done.  This was taken at 1am so with a good primer, the colors stay well. you just have to be patient when applying because you need a build up of the product on your brush to get a good color pay off.

with flash..
without flash..

The positive thing though is that the colors with good pigmentation (the dark colors) stayed well--

I will give this palette a chance and sill try to use it again. Compared to my Naked 2 palette from Urban Decay, this is disappointing.

This is my unbiased review for Too Faced Joy To the Girls Palette. I hope not all their products is as disappointing as this one. I still have to give them another chance. Im hoping for a better quality for my next purchase from them or I will have to stay away from this brand.

Product Review: Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick

I discovered these gorgeous lipsticks from Rimmel.

I chose two different shades to try.. one is a fresh coral nude which is  #32 and a beautiful nude color # 26

Here are their swatches:

Photo without flash..
and with flash..

The colors are so fresh and perfect for the summer. It can be worn with a full makeup do and on simple no makeup days.
The lipstick is moisturizing considering that it has a semi-matte effect. It glides smoothly on the lips when you apply. The price is reasonable and cheap with a good quality.

I will be going back to try the other shades they have. I hope this review is helpful to those who are curious about this line of lipstick from Rimmel.

[INSPIRATION #5] What Do Women Really Want.. A Funny Lesson for Men and A Hilarious Read for Women

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the
monarch of a neighboring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him, but
was moved by Arthur's youth and ideals. So the monarch offered him
freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur
would have a year to figure out the answer; if, after a year, he still
had no answer, he would be put to death.

The question: What do women really want?

Such a question would perplex even the most
knowledgeable man, and, to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query.
But, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch's
proposition to have an answer by year's end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everybody: the princess,
the prostitutes, the priests, the wise men, and the court jester. He
spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer.

Many people advised him to consult the old witch--only
she would know the answer. The price would be high; the witch was famous
throughout the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged.

As the last day of the year approached, Arthur had no
alternative but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer his question,
but he'd have to accept her price first: The old witch wanted to marry
Gawain, the most noble of the Knights of the Round Table and Arthur's
closest friend.

Young Arthur was horrified. She was hunchbacked and
hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene
noises...etc. He had never encountered such a repugnant creature. He
refused to force his friend to marry her and have to endure such a
burden.

Gawain, upon learning of the proposal, spoke with
Arthur. He told him that nothing was too big a sacrifice compared to
Arthur's life and the preservation of the Round Table. Hence, their
wedding was proclaimed, and the witch answered Arthur's question thus:
What a woman really wants is to be in charge of her own life.

Everyone instantly knew that the witch had uttered a
great truth and that Arthur's life would be spared. And so it was. The
neighboring monarch granted Arthur total freedom.

What a wedding Gawain and the witch had. Arthur was
torn between relief and anguish. Gawain was proper as always, gentle and
courteous. The old witch put her worst manners on display, and generally
made everyone very uncomfortable.

The honeymoon hour approached. Gawain, steeling
himself for a horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But what a sight
awaited him. The most beautiful woman he'd ever seen lay before him.

The astounded Gawain asked what had happened. The beauty replied that
since he had been so kind to her when she'd appeared as a witch, she
would henceforth be her horrible, deformed self half the time, and the
other half, she would be her beautiful maiden self.

Which would he want her to be during the day, and
which during the night, the witch asked?
What a cruel question. Gawain pondered his
predicament. During the day, a beautiful woman to
show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his home, an
old witch. Or would he prefer having by day a hideous witch, but by
night a beautiful woman with whom to enjoy many intimate moments?

What would you do?

What Gawain chose follows below, but don't read until
you've made your own choice.

************************************************************************

Noble Gawain replied that he would let her choose for
herself. Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be
beautiful all the time, because he had respected her enough to let her
be in charge of her own life.

What is the moral of this story?

The moral of the story is: If a woman doesn't get her own way,
things are going to get ugly.
Many people may agree or not, but this is so funny. I got this from one of the few forwarded emails to me more than 10years ago.. I was going through old emails from friends that I have kept. I will be posting more of these little stories and articles as the day pass. I hope you enjoyed this funny short story.

Product Review: Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner

I've been asked by friends several times on how I make my simple cat eye liner so neat. Of course the secret is the product that I use. I love the ELF Waterproof eyeliner pens of which I posted a review back 2009 that can be read here
Sometime last year ELF stopped purchases using international credit cards and that's when I started panicking to look for a replacement for my HG eyeliner. Back then makeup companies only had pencils or the liners in a bottle that comes with a brush which needs precision to use perfectly. I hated it.
On my search for a similar product, I came across with Just Gold Felt Tip Liner Pen which is very similar to that of ELF. I just think it better because of more product content so it lasts longer than that of ELF. I did  write a review last year which can be read hereI just love on how easy it is to use these liner pens.
My discovery of the Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner has changed my view on gel liners.
It is so easy to use and I love that the product glides on my lids so smoothly and it does not give me the irritations (itchiness) that I get from ELF Waterproof eyeliner.
I love that it comes with its own precision brush that is just so easy to handle which makes doing a cat-eye look a breeze!
The gel liner itself is very pigmented and a reasonable amount of product on the jar considering it is not very expensive. The plus is the brush that comes with it.
Pigmentation of the product is just impressive..
product without flash
product with flash
It is so far the blackest gel liner I have ever used. I have tried Coastal Scents -- which is not so bad but not as smooth as Maybelline's and also the ELF which was not pigmented and disappointing.
PROs:
-High Pimentation
-Easy Glide Smooth Product
-Free Easy to use hi precision brush
-Waterproof and long lasting that stays up to 36 hours
-Very delicate to my eyes and no itchiness and irritation
CONs:
NOTHING!

These photos are taken at 1am after a dinner out with friends and as you can see the product is has no smudges.
My eye makeup has already creased a bit given it is already 1am but the maybelline gel liner remained intact.

I cannot wait to try the rest of the colors they have for this product. I can say that this is one of my HG products for Gel Liners. I just simply love it.

Soooo Highschool!

One of the memories I have in High school was answering questions on a Slum book. It was fun! I remember my classmates would buy one just to know who is the crush of their crushes.

During University days we had the same thing but on a high tech mode through emails!
Do you remember during the late 90s and early 2000s when email forwarding was so popular and one of the things were slum book questions that you have to answer and forward to people? That was fun right??

I was going through old emails when I stumbled upon these. To share friend's views about me back university days, here's what my friends/classmates have to say:
